DoD Credentialing Programs
Professionalizing the Force Through Credentialing Programs

The Department of Defense invests in various professional credentials for Service members, allowing them to obtain occupational licenses and certifications, as well as engage in apprenticeship programs. These credentials cover a range of fields from supply chain management to information technology to heavy equipment operation. They not only support force recruitment, retention, and transition but also contribute significantly to readiness by addressing workforce gaps, professionalizing the force, and increasing our lethality.

With over 1,700 licenses and credentials aligned with enlisted military careers, they directly contribute to fulfilling diverse missions and objectives. Military personnel can access these benefits through the Credentialing Opportunities Online (COOL) at cool.osd.milby enrolling in the U.S. Military Apprenticeship Program (USMAP) at
usmap.osd.mil, or by finding a DOD SkillBridge industry partner in your career field of interest at skillbridge.osd.mil.
